The 22-year-old suffered a nightmare bout in Italy with Roma but was a key factor for his side since returning to Brazil.
Marcos Santos, who oversees Gerson’s career, also clarified that the nightmare three-quarter spell the 22-year-old suffered at Roma.
According to Santos, Gerson transferred to Roma at 2016 before Barcelona since former team Fluminense had a larger transfer charge, but things went downhill from that point.
“We had all settled, signed,” he advised Yahoo.
“They [Roma] needed me to register with a broker. They screwed us . They screwed us that we could not rent a home; we needed to remain in a hotel for 3 months.
“Each of the homes we attempted to lease, I needed to speak to the particular businessman, whose title I do not even need to remain. We just solved this when Gerson spoke to [Francesco] Totti. We transferred to Totti’s apartment.
“It simply didn’t work.
“There was a time when he had been placed on the wing, without having trained there, to indicate [Gonzalo] Higuain. But anyway… thank God,e was able to escape”
After a year on loan at Fiorentina, he returned to his home nation with Flamengo at July 2019 as the priciest Brazilian signed with a Brazilian team.
Santos states Palmeiras, Corinthians, Gremio and Atletico Mineiro all attempted to signal Gerson on loan, but Roma simply wanted to sell him.
Gerson’s agent claims Arsenal, Spurs, and Dortmund are interested in the Brazilian.
“Nobody knew about Arsenal, but that I am telling you, everybody will understand,” he explained.
On the documented interest of Spurs and Dortmund, he added: “Everybody you hear there’s accurate. But they’ve just enquired.”
Gerson has had a great time since returning to Brazil. He played 43 times for Flamengo and is rightfully named in the Serie A team of the year. He was part of a side who won the league title and Copa Libertadores twice in 2019.
