The midfielder, on loan from Real Madrid, says he hopes to continue with the Gunners although the situation remains unclear due to coronavirus.

Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos says he’s unsure about his future, but that where he performs next has to be someplace where he feels “significant”.

The Spanish midfielder moved on a season-long bargain to the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid last summer, however, his time in England was hampered by a string of injuries.

There was discussion that Ceballos’s deal with Arsenal could be cut short in January, with speculation that Valencia were eager to take over his loan and deliver him back to Spain

He has, however, recovered from his injuries and established himself at the Arsenal first team in the second half of the Premier League campaign, working under new head coach Mikel Arteta.

That progress was stopped with soccer having been suspended across the majority of Europe after the season was put on hold because of the outbreak of coronavirus.

The loan deal with Arsenal of Ceballos is scheduled to end on June 30, although with the possibility that the league period could be extended beyond this stage, it leaves the player in a situation that is tenuous.

The Spaniard wishes to finish the season – if and when it’s finished – but refused to be drawn on where he is playing in the future.

He told Spanish television series El Chiringuito de Jugones: “I finish my contract on June 30 but I’d need to [continue to] play for Arsenal [when soccer returns]. I don’t understand [with his loan with completed that would work].

“It would be irresponsible in my side to discuss my future. The important thing is to be important for my team that is new. I came to Arsenal to be a significant participant but in the past month that disappeared [because of coronavirus quitting football].”

On whether he might have left Arsenal in January, he said: “Yes, my agent told me about the interest of other teams but I didn’t play since I was coming back from injury.

“I began training and altered my situation. In the I felt important. I understood about Valencia’s interest.”

The 23-year-old has made 14 Premier League looks so much for Arsenal, promising two assists. He is yet to register a goal in the contest.
