The Egyptian midfielder is spending the 2019-20 campaign from the Emirates and considers a colleague at north London could follow in his footsteps.
Mohamed Elneny asserts Mesut Ozil”could come to Fenerbahce” at a certain point, with the Arsenal midfielder now taking in a loan spell in the Turkish club.
The Gunners let the Egypt international head from Emirates Stadium on a season-long deal in the summer of 2019.
While Elneny is now a long way from north London, he stays in touch with those back at Emirates Stadium.
Ozil is one of those he speaks to on a regular basis, with the World Cup winner excited to discover how things are going in Istanbul.
The prior Germany international boasts powerful ties to the Turkish club through his mother and has succeeded at making a move before.
Ozil is presently tied to terms at Arsenal until 2021, but he’d be free to undertake a new challenge after that agreement comes to a close.
Elneny considers Fener could be his next port of call, telling beIN Sports:”Mesut really loves Fenerbahce. He is always talking about the club and the fans.
“If you ask me, I think he could come to Fenerbahce. He is always trying to frighten me singing Fenerbahce chants.”
Ozil’s representative stated back in 2015 a switch to Turkey could be made, stating:”If he were to leave then Fenerbahce could be an alternative.
“At the end of the day it’s a massive club and I think Ozil would say yes to an offer if it came down to it.”
Talk of a move to Fenerbahce emerged again through a difficult spell for Ozil in Arsenal under the advice of Unai Emery.
A welcome return to form was appreciated since Mikel Arteta was handed the managerial reins, which has curbed the exit rumours again for today.
The 31-year-old playmaker has said of his immediate plans:”After this year I have an additional year, so then I will understand because I can not see the future.
“The thing I can do is give everything for the team, for myself, to succeed and let us see what happens.”
Ozil has taken in 21 appearances for Arsenal this year across all contests, contributing one goal and two assists.
