Arsenal vs Everton – Betting Preview
Mikel Arteta’s team will host Everton at the Emirates on Wednesday night in a Premier League matchup that features vengeance on the menu for Arsenal.
After defeating Leicester City 1-0 over the weekend, the Arsenal kept hold of first place, while the Toffees fell back into danger of being relegated after losing to Aston Villa 2-0.
Arsenal Preview
Both teams need Premier League points, but for very different reasons, as Arsenal takes on Everton.
The Gunners will be aiming to maintain their strong response to losing to their closest championship rivals, which has seen them defeat Aston Villa and Leicester City back-to-back away from home, and increase their lead at the top over Manchester City to five points in the rescheduled match.
Arsenal’s stronghold at the Emirates, however, has seen some of its walls breached recently as they have won just one of their last four Premier League home games and claim only two clean sheets from their previous 16 games in the top division played on their home field.
But still, not to forget, they are top of the table!
Everton Preview
In contrast, Everton is currently in 18th place after a weekend loss to Aston Villa at home, which Leeds and West Ham both needed to win. The Toffees will attempt to recreate their success from Sean Dyche’s debut game in command, when they overcame the top-placed Arsenal at Goodison Park by a score of 1-0.
The Toffees have never defeated the team at the top of the Premier League standings on the road, and their recent road form does not inspire confidence that such a scenario will materialise on Wednesday.
If Everton is to leave with all three points, a new chapter in the club’s history must be written.
While James Tarkowski’s strike was all it took for the Toffees to defeat Arsenal 1-0 earlier in February—their fourth victory in five meetings with the vengeful Gunners— Dyche’s is indeed winless in seven straight away Premier League games and has scored just one goal during that period!
1×2 Betting Odds
Let’s analyse the 1×2 betting market.
Everton hasn’t travelled well so far this season, and Arsenal has defeated the Toffees three times in their last four home games.
It feels unlikely the Gunners will come stuck against the Toffees again, so expect them to get a few goals as they move five points clear at the top.
In the eyes of the betting market, Arsenal to win stands @ 1.38.
Everton has lost its past three away games and failed to score in three of its last five league games, while Arsenal have won their last two league games and kept a clean sheet against Leicester the last time out!
It seems really hard to envision an Everton victory at the Emirates. Their odds of winning stand @ 11.00.
The odds of a stalemate and advantage Manchester City, stands @ 5.40.
Total goals over/under
Let’s analyse the over/under market.
The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.89.
While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 2.07.
Everton will try to play majorly on the backfoot, while trying to capitalize on the rare counters that they will get.
In all likelihood, it wont be an open game, so it is best to expect limited goal action in this.
